Where does the name Bijvoet come from? Johannes Martin Bijvoet, a Dutch chemist who contributed to the foundations of the science of X-ray crystallography.
What are Bijvoet pairs? Bijvoet pairs are Bragg reflections which are space group symmetry equivalents to the two members of a Friedel pair.
Are we pronouncing his (her) name properly? Probably not, but English speaking X-ray crystallographers discuss this every once in a while and come up with various approximations (see here and here).
